Chloé Bercovici

Chloé opened her workshop in 2014.

She makes contemporary jewellery in a refined, timeless style, inspired by modern art and natural forms. She also creates ceramic statuettes of imaginary hybrid beings, half-human and half-animal.

Heavily influenced by her parents, who were both potters, Chloé uses a semi-autodidact approach that draws on her studies in the arts (two years at the Montpellier School of Fine Arts, followed by a degree in art history) and her personal practice.

As well as consistently working on her jewellery collection, she has also expanded her production of sculptures and decorative objects, including pots. An aesthetic unity between colour and line links all her creations.

Prices range from around €12 to €65 for jewellery and from €65 for statuettes.

“What got me into jewellery, I can't say: in my memories, when I was already a teenager, I used to make little necklaces from smoky pearls inspired by primitive prehistoric necklaces. The idea must have stayed in the back of my mind, only to emerge years later, matured by the aesthetic currents I encountered along the way. As for sculptures, modelling statues has always been part of my daily life, evolving with the stages of my development.”

Sculptures - Simplement Terre

A surreal figurative universe

Sculptures

Some of the pieces are directly inspired by yoga, with accentuated twists and improbable postures.

Chloé always aims to convey a feeling of serenity and gentleness as an invitation to inner rest, meditation and calm.

“These little sculptures flow out of my imagination as inspiration takes me. You can see the influence of the books I read as a child and the comics I read in the past. Human characters with animal heads, improbable and whimsical beings, sometimes tender and loving, alone or in pairs.”

Jewellery - Simplement Terre

Jewellery

Some jewellery models are developed in small series, with each pearl being modelled by hand, without moulds or dies.

Each piece is original with its own character, making it a unique piece of jewellery. As a result, each piece of jewellery presented in the boutique may differ slightly from the other models available.

Pots

Simplement Terre pots are turned by hand directly from the clay and decoratedwith small metal rods that have a small ball of clay at the end.

As with her jewellery and statues, Chloé decorates the surfaces with textured effects using the point of an awl, which gives the clay a lava stone appearance.

Her objective it to to give each object soft lines, creating harmony of proportions and graceful curves.
